America’s 250th anniversary celebration at the Smithsonian brings the past to life with a fun, all-ages celebration commemorating 250 years of American art, history, and culture. Enjoy live dance and musical performances, take guided tours through the galleries, and participate in story times, games, and interactive activities. Visitors can create art with friends and family and take home a commemorative booklet to celebrate the 250th all year long.
In addition, the Smithsonian Institution Building, more commonly known as the Castle, will temporarily reopen after three years of renovation—from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day—to take part in the America250 celebrations. The Castle will feature a new visitor center, café, museum shop, and a special exhibition titled American Aspirations.
